5 Items to Avoid Bringing and Additional Moving Tips

Tips and Hacks for a Stress-Free Move-in Day at UNC Greensboro (UNCG)

Are you a college student getting ready to move into campus housing? If so, you’re probably feeling a mix of excitement and stress about the big day. But fear not, UNC Greensboro (UNCG) is here to help make your move-in experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.

The staff at Housing and Residence Life (HRL) at UNCG have some great tips and hacks to share with you to help alleviate some of that summer stress. One of their top recommendations is to sign up for a Stop, Drop & Roll appointment about a month before move-in day. This appointment allows you to bring your belongings and set up your room early, giving you a head start on the moving process.

But that’s not all – HRL also advises against overpacking. Many first-year students tend to pack more than they need, leading to unnecessary stress and hassle on move-in day. Instead, focus on being organized and packing only the essentials. HRL even provides a list of 5 things NOT to pack for college, including items like furniture, duplicates of what your roommate is bringing, and valuables that could be at risk of loss or theft.

And once you’ve got the packing under control, it’s time to have some fun! HRL encourages students to participate in the Best Dressed Room contest, where you can show off your creativity and win some cool prizes. It’s a great way to make your new living space feel like home and get excited for the upcoming academic year.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the prospect of moving into campus housing, remember that UNCG and HRL are here to support you every step of the way. By following their tips and hacks, you can make your move-in day a breeze and start the semester off on the right foot. Good luck, and welcome to the G!
